"I was in Florence with the summer school programme for teenagers. The lessons with my teachers were very entertaining and interesting. I really can say that I liked everything here and besides I learned very much.....Learning here is great fun, one learns a lot and gets to know many people. Lukas, Austria
Are you staying home for summer vacation? Certainly you don't plan on spending your long awaited vacation at home! With EUROPASS you can enjoy an exciting summer in Florence with other children from all over the world and also learn Italian where it is spoken! Naturally, besides the language course, we will provide you with a summer full of fun sports and activities.
You will enjoy parties at school, field trips, Italian ice cream and fun at the beach, all while you meet other young people and make friends that will last a lifetime!
Trip
You can plan your trip to Florence on your own by bus, plane or train. Once you arrive you will find your host family waiting for you, to take you to your "new home.” You can arrive to Florence on Sunday and the depart on Saturday, between the hours of 8,00 and 22.00.
Lodging
During your stay in Florence you will stay with an Italian family carefully selected for this course. You will stay in a room with one or two other students. Your Italian Family will provide breakfast and dinner. From the Monday to Friday, lunch will be organized by the school, while on the weekends, during the excursions, lunch will be supplied, by your host family. Most families are situated in the proximity of the school. However in summer, for the great number of participants, the families can find themselves a relative distance from the school and the city center. Some students will have to take the bus in order to arrive to the school (maximum 30 minutes). In any case, the public transport services are easy accessible and efficient. Please visit: www.ataf.net for more information.
Language course
On the first day of school you will take a written and oral test in order to be placed in the course most suited to your ability.
But don't let the word "test" scare you; you will not be given a grade! We just want to understand what your level of Italian is and put you in the right group of learners. If you are a beginner then you can start your lesson immediately without taking a test.
Extracurricular activities
The first day of school we will do a quick tour to show you where the school is situated, where the Duomo is, and where other important places in Florence are located: the Uffizi gallery, Piazza della Repubblica, and a good ice cream shop.
Naturally, on the weekends we will take you to other beautiful cities like Pisa, Siena, and Lucca, all in which are must sees. For physical activities we will organize volleyball and small soccer games, and when it is too hot we will go to the beach or to the swimming pool to cool off.
We will introduce you to the area around Florence by going on walks through the countryside and we will spend an afternoon at Boboli Gardens. Each week we will go eat pizza together and if you still have money after your stay in Florence we will take you to an Outlet Shopping center to buy Italian name brand shoes and clothing at super low prices.
