The CIC exam (Certificazione dell'italiano commerciale) is a certification for business Italian and is organized by the Università per Stranieri di Perugia once per year in June. The exam is administered in 2 possible levels: intermediate and advanced.

The CIC INTERMEDIO (Intermediate) - CIC I certifies a speaker's knowledge of business Italian within a limited professional context. The bearer of this certificate will be able to deal with clients and suppliers at the level of a secretary or telephone operator. This exam for the CIC INTERMEDIO will test one's ability to handle typical tasks, which normally occur in work environments found within Italian businesses and organizations.

The CIC AVANZATO (Advanced) - CIC A certifies a speaker's knowledge of business Italian necessary for professionals who operate effectively and with complete autonomy in all businesses and organizations. The bearer of this certificate is able to take on duties that require constant and crucial contact with clients, with suppliers and fellow partners. The bearer will know how to interact in every situation and be able to speak on any topic.
